Looping Video Projection, Dream Remembrances, DuraLar, Acrylic, Mirror

“To Follow” is a looping video projection featuring text excerpts from years of dream journaling. The video is projected at an angle onto a large mirror and through layers of transparent film. As the projected text scrolls upward, once recognizable words intermingle with refractory material to become increasingly disjointed. Over time the text becomes simply fragmented light.

The piece aims to replicate the life and movement of a dream memory upon waking. The words themselves have gone through a series of filters to become a projection: Images in a sleep state > handwritten journal entries > typed words > projected phrases through a lens > projected phrases onto multiple surfaces. “To Follow” is a physical manifestation of the ever changing landscape of remembered experiences and the efforts we take to translate a feeling into form.
